Memorandum Signed
On June 5, UMP JSC signed a memorandum on response to environmental emergency situations in case of unfavorable meteorological conditions.
A total of eight parties participated in the memorandum – the East Kazakhstan Region Akimat, the East Kazakhstan Region Department of Ecology, the East Kazakhstan Region Department of Emergency Situations, the East Kazakhstan Region Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control, the East Kazakhstan Region Police, the East Kazakhstan Region branch of RSE Kazhydromet, the Environmental Protection Bureau «Oskemen Tynysy», UMP and other industrial enterprises.
The purpose of the memorandum is to establish a procedure for interaction in the event of environmental emergencies for prompt response, access, measurement and informing the public.
As part of the memorandum, the parties agreed to implement a set of measures to reduce emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere in case of unfavorable meteorological conditions, as was the case before. According to the signed memorandum, the East Kazakhstan Region Department of Ecology may also carry out measurements at the sources of atmospheric emissions on the territory of enterprises during the unfavorable meteorological conditions period.
