Words from the Heart
In October, a competition entitled ‘The World of Kasym and Mukagali’ was held in Astana for employees of NAC Kazatomprom JSC, dedicated to the 115th anniversary of Kasym Amanzholov and the 95th anniversary of Mukagali Makatayev.
Ulba Metallurgical Plant was represented by Natalya Dunayeva, a Laboratory Assistant specializing in the chemical analysis of uranium products at the testing centre. She has spoken Kazakh since childhood and is fluent in the language, singing songs and reciting poetry. For her performance, Natalya chose the poem ‘Üsh baqytym’ (‘Three Happinesses’) by the outstanding Kazakh poet Muqagali Makatayev.
Preparing for the event required her to juggle her work schedule with rehearsals. However, refining every intonation, pause and gesture paid off: the performance turned out to be particularly expressive and heartfelt. Natalya succeeded in conveying the depth of the philosophical poetry, demonstrating a high level of skill and respect for Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage.
