UMP’s scientific research has gained international recognition
May 2026 was a successful month for the specialists at the Ulba Metallurgical Plant. Experts and young researchers at the plant presented their work at two major scientific events – the 12th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Development of the Uranium and Rare Metals Industry” in Almaty and the 25th Conference and Competition of Research and Development Projects by Young Scientists and Specialists in Kurchatov.
At the international conference organized by NAC Kazatomprom JSC, UMP Research Center presented four papers on current trends in the development of the nuclear industry. The company’s specialists presented research findings on the production of new materials, the processing of uranium-containing waste, the reduction of liquid radioactive waste volumes, and the development of promising medical alloys.
The plant’s representatives were equally successful at the conference for young scientists held by the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Amid fierce competition, the research papers by UMP specialists were highly praised by the expert jury and received special recognition in specific categories.
Participation in the country’s leading scientific forums confirms the high level of research conducted at the Ulba Metallurgical Plant and the demand for its specialists’ developments, which are aimed at advancing the nuclear industry and implementing modern technologies.
