ALONG THE TRAJECTORY OF A STAR
The life of Vladimir Petrovich Potanin, Director of the Ulba Metallurgical Plant from 1961 to 1974, can be compared to the trajectory of a star that traced its radiant and swift path across the Ulba sky, leaving behind a unique and brilliant legacy.
This year holds special significance for UMP. It marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the legendary director.
The day of January 13, 2026, was particularly warm and heartfelt. The Exhibition and Information Center brought together guests: family members, colleagues, who had known Vladimir Petrovich personally, and laureates of the V. Potanin Scholarship.
Colleagues recall that Vladimir Petrovich was always passionately devoted to life in all its manifestations: his work, self-education, art, sports and amateur creativity. All these facets developed and flourished within the life of the plant.
The meeting concluded with the traditional laying of flowers in front of the monument to V. Potanin on the street bearing his name. For those who had a privilege of working alongside Vladimir Potanin, he will forever remain a model of exceptional leadership and personal integrity. For present and future generations, his legacy endures as a source of strength, guidance and inspiration.
