A New Helper at the Production Site

Tests of a passive industrial exoskeleton of X-SOFT brand have been completed at Beryllium Operations.

An exoskeleton is a device designed to reduce the negative impact on the musculoskeletal system. It facilitates the movement of cargo by strengthening the physical capabilities of a person, thereby enhancing safety when performing heavy work.

The exoskeleton is a structure in the form of a corset that protects the thoracic and lumbar sections from injuries and increased loads and increases human endurance during active loads with and without a load. In addition, it has another positive effect – it forms the correct posture when working. An exoskeleton is worn over workwear and can be used continuously for three hours.

The exoskeleton was tested at different Beryllium Operations sites for a month. For this purpose, the Department of Industrial Safety and Labor Protection has compiled a program – methodology of production tests, and a commission has been created. As a result, it was decided that it would be most effective to use it for cutting copper cathode billets. Based on the opinion of the participants of the test, i.e. operator of Beryllium Operations Erik Bazarov, Kairat Oruzbayev and Pavel Krasnobayev, «exoskeleton allows to increase labor productivity», «compensates for the load on the back», «helps to avoid industrial injuries».

Based on the test report, exoskeleton is recommended for further use by Beryllium Operations employees as an auxiliary tool.
