Future of Uranium production

In 1999 "Ulba metallurgical Plant" started to implement the largest in the production history investment program provided for the use of approximately USD 25.000,00 in the 5 years period.


Main trends of Uranium production Development:

1. Re-equip production capacities on the basis of new high-performance and economic equipment, in order to meet specifications of the leading world producers of nuclear fuel and increase presence in the world market with uranium dioxide powders, fuel pellets and services for U-containing materials processing. 
2. Create new production capacities, in order to widen the range of processed uranium-containing materials, including reprocessed materials.
3. Creation of highly efficient automated production based on up-to-date and advanced equipment, materials and technologies in order to produce competitive product and provide for high level of personnel safety.


Future of BERYLLIUM production

1. Improve existing process of extraction of Be from ores and concentrates with the purpose of obtaining cheaper Be hydroxide that is not yield to current hydroxide in quality.
2. Development of techniques and equipment for the production of wide range of products from Beryllium Copper in compliance with the requirements of the world and local markets including those for gas and oil industries of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
3. Improve current techniques and equipment for production of Be metal and Be containing master alloys with the purpose of reducing their production costs.

Future of Tantalum production

Tantalum production is the most scientific of the UMP's basic productions. The plant invests almost a quarter of total investment volume into Tantalum scientific developments. At the same time we intend to present Niobium products in markets. Today in cooperation with the Irtysh Chemical-Metallurgical Plant Niobium chips and capacitor powders of fragment type are being supplied to the first customers.

Investment program covers the following:

• Development of process and establishment of Tantalum based products (powders, wire, roll products) for production of the new generation capacitors in the volume of up to 50-70 tons per year.
• Development of process and establishment of production of competent niobium based products in the form of niobium pentoxide "M" Grade, Ferroniobium 60, roll products and niobium powders of capacitor grade in the volume of up to 200 tons per year.
• Establishment of high efficacious production capacities on processing of any kinds of raw materials contained Niobium and Tantalum in volume of up to 250 tons per year according to Tantalum.
• Establishment of the industrial processing complex for the production of HF acid in volume of up to 9000 tons per year, using during the production fluorite ore, mined in the Karadzhal deposit of Kazakhstan.
