Environmental Policy of UMP administration

UMP JSC is and enterprise realizing its activity in production of uranium, beryllium, tantalum and niobium products and hydrofluoric acid. The main unfavorable aspects of impact on the environment are emissions of polluting substances into atmosphere, their discharge together with effluents and disposal of industrial waste to tailing ponds.
UMP JSC intends to reduce the unfavorable aspects of impact on the environment arising in the process of production operation of the enterprise.
We work for creation of conditions assuring the safety of population inhabiting the area of UMP influence.

The main aims of our environment policy are as follows:

• Production operation in accordance with the nature protection legislation and other normative requirements applicable in Kazakhstan;
• Reduction of deleterious impact of the production operation on the environment;
• Continuous improvement of the environment condition;
• Prevention of environment accidents;
• Rational use of resources;
• Continuous improvement of the existing technologies and introduction of new ones based of the environment safety.

The successful achievement of the aims is assures as follows:

• Control of compatibility of production processes with requirements of environment protection up to introduction of the processes;
• Efficient functioning of the environment protection management system;
• Reduction of resources use;
• Purposeful preparation of staff for execution of works with understanding of its responsibility for the environment condition;
• Monitoring and measurement of basic characteristics of operations and types of activity related to considerable impact on the environment and information of the monitoring results to the concerned parties;
• Development of products so as to minimize its impact on the environment in the production;
• Information of customers and forwarders of about the safe transportation of products to be delivered;
• Meeting of requirements regarding the environment protection accepted at UMP by contractors.

The UMP JSC administration undertakes to realize the environment protection policy, and intends to follow strictly its purposes and calls every Ulba employee   to follow the purpose.
